Which one is for me?

The short version

Core is the entry. Prime is the all-rounder. PRO X is the tournament pad. All three are EU-manufactured hard dance pads — engineered MDF base, metallic-coated arrow panels — with 1 ms response and compatible with StepMania, ITGMania, Project OutFox and DDR-style charts on PC and Mac. The difference is in controller electronics, panel surface treatment, and the kind of player who needs each one.

Which one should you choose?

Choose L-TEK Core if…

  • This is your first hard dance pad and you’re stepping up from a soft mat
  • You play casually to a few times per week
  • You want to test whether you’ll stick with rhythm gaming before committing to a higher tier
  • Budget matters and you want the best metal-build entry pad available

Choose L-TEK Prime if…

  • You play StepMania, ITGMania, or DDR-style charts several times per week
  • You’re starting to play charts above intermediate difficulty regularly
  • You want the joystick/keyboard mode switch for use beyond rhythm gaming
  • You expect this pad to be your long-term home setup (years, not months)

Choose L-TEK PRO X if…

  • You compete in ITGMania or similar tournaments
  • You play advanced charts daily and need the controller precision
  • You want full-panel UV-printed artwork (custom panels)
  • You’ve owned a Prime and outgrown it, or you’re starting at the top tier deliberately

If you’re genuinely unsure: start with L-TEK Core. It costs the least, has the same engineered MDF base and metallic-coated panels as the higher models, and the secondhand market for L-TEK pads is healthy if you ever decide to upgrade. The most common regret among L-TEK customers is buying PRO X before they were ready for it — not buying Core “too early”.

In short: L-TEK Core (€240, beginners), L-TEK Prime (€499, all-rounder, most popular), L-TEK PRO X (€699, tournament-grade). All three share the same EU-manufactured engineered MDF base with metallic-coated arrow panels, 1 ms response, 2-year EU warranty, and DHL Express worldwide shipping. The controller electronics and panel surface treatment are where they diverge. Start with Core if unsure; settle on Prime for most home use; choose PRO X for competitive play.

Frequently asked questions

I'm a complete beginner — Core, Prime, or PRO X?

L-TEK Core. Same engineered MDF base and metallic-coated panels as the higher models, fits typical apartment living rooms, and you will not outgrow it for years of casual-to-intermediate play. Roughly two-thirds of new buyers start here.

I play StepMania a few times a week and want to take it more seriously. Which?

L-TEK Prime. The 1000 Hz USB polling and refined panel feel make a noticeable difference once you are playing charts above intermediate difficulty. Prime is the most popular L-TEK model precisely because it sits at the sweet spot of price and capability for committed home players.

I compete in ITGMania tournaments. Which?

L-TEK PRO X. The 32-bit ARM Cortex-M controller and highest sensor precision are what tournament-level play needs. Most top-tier players in the L-TEK community use PRO X.

What's the actual difference between Core and Prime?

Core uses standard electronics with 500 Hz USB polling. Prime upgrades to 1000 Hz polling, adds a joystick/keyboard mode switch (useful for non-rhythm-game use), and has a slightly refined panel feel. Sensor precision is similar; the controller is the meaningful difference. Both share the same engineered MDF base and metallic-coated arrow panels. Pricing reflects roughly the same gap.

What's the difference between Prime and PRO X?

PRO X uses a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M controller (Prime uses standard) — the most significant electronics upgrade in the lineup. PRO X also has all 9 panels (the four arrow panels plus the five surrounding squares) UV-printed with custom artwork, which Prime does not. For competitive play, PRO X is what wins; for serious home play, Prime is enough.

Can I upgrade from Core to Prime or PRO X later?

You can — and many of our customers do exactly this. L-TEK pads hold their value well; the secondhand market exists. That said, most Core owners stay on Core because the play experience is genuinely good at that tier. Upgrade only when you notice the difference matters to your play.

Are all three the same physical size?

Essentially yes — roughly 1 m × 1 m footprint. Weight differs slightly (Core ~16 kg, Prime / PRO X ~18 kg). All three fit standard apartment living rooms.

Are all three compatible with the same games?

Yes. All three are USB HID controllers that work with StepMania, ITGMania, Project OutFox, DDR-style charts on PC and Mac, and PS2/PSX (via the PS2/PSX Converter accessory).

Do all three come with the same warranty?

Yes — 2-year EU warranty on all three, shipped from Poland via DHL Express worldwide.
