It uses the classic L-TEK hard-pad construction with a solid weighted base, high-sensitivity PRO panels and a fast 32-bit ARM controller with real 1 ms USB timing. It is a strong choice for DDR-style games, StepMania, ITGMania and In The Groove.
The “Metal Black” name refers to the black metal-look finish on the inactive panels. This is not a full metal dance mat: the mat is built on L-TEK’s hard dance pad platform with metal-look surface panels, durable borders and protective bumpers. The result is a clean premium look without suggesting an all-metal construction.
Low sensor stroke, anti-slip stands, aluminum borders and ABS bumpers help keep the pad steady during longer sessions, whether you play barefoot or in sports shoes. Use it with PC or Mac through USB, or pair it with the L-TEK PS2/PSX converter for classic console setups.

Important construction note: L-TEK Metal Black is not a full metal dance mat. The “Metal Black” name refers to the black metal-look finish on the inactive panels. The mat uses the L-TEK hard-pad platform with a weighted base, active PRO panels, aluminum borders and protective ABS bumpers.
The inactive metal-look panels give the pad a premium visual style, while the active arrow panels are designed for fast and precise input. A high-speed 32-bit ARM based controller, real 1 ms timing and 1000 Hz USB polling help keep rhythm-game inputs responsive during longer practice sessions.
Compared with soft dance mats, Metal Black offers a heavier and more stable playing surface for DDR-style games at home. Low sensor stroke, high sensitivity, anti-slip stands and a protected hidden USB socket help the pad stay practical for regular play, whether you use it barefoot or with sports shoes.
Use it with PC or Mac through USB. For classic console setups, pair it with the L-TEK PS2/PSX Converter. If you want extra body support during play, add the LTEK Handbar PRO. Love it! I used cheap foam pads for a few months, but could feel their limitations (sliding, inconsistent detection, etc). This new metal pad felt like a clear upgrade. The price is a little steep but feels fair given the quality of the board.

Marvelous pad. They’re sturdy enough for playing with shoes. I removed the center screws for each arrow and found the sensitivity to be fantastic. Well worth the price.
