Four arrows, a clear starting point
Core is a four-arrow DDR-style mat. Begin with simple charts and keep the same layout as your timing and footwork improve.
PRO panels and protected edges
PRO panels with high-resolution UV printing sit within aluminium borders and ABS bumpers. The mat is designed for bare feet or sports shoes.
A substantial foundation
The 18 kg base and anti-slip stands support a stable playing position. Allow for its weight when planning where to use and store it.
Fast USB polling
The controller supports 1000 Hz USB polling and a short sensor stroke. That is a 1 ms polling interval; screen, audio and game settings also influence the timing you feel.
Practical cable connection
The included detachable L-TEK USB cable and protected socket let you connect for a session and disconnect afterwards.
A home-conscious build
Core includes noise-reducing construction. Floor type, the room and how you step still affect the sound and vibration reaching other people.
01 / The mat under your feet
From the first arrow to a regular practice routine
You do not need to begin with fast songs. Core gives you a consistent four-arrow layout, so your first goal can be as simple as stepping on the right arrow at the right moment. Its low sensor stroke supports responsive inputs without requiring a long panel movement. As you gain confidence, increase chart difficulty in the game while keeping the same physical setup.
Know the footprint
The mat measures 85 × 85 × 3 cm and weighs 18 kg. Choose a place with space around it and plan how you will move it between sessions.
Choose your footwear
Core is designed for bare feet or sports shoes. Start slowly, check your footing and build a comfortable stepping rhythm.
02 / Connection and software
Your computer runs the game. Core supplies the steps.
For a straightforward Windows start, use the free StepMania 5.0 LTEK Edition beta from our Software page. Connect Core by USB, check pad mapping and follow the beginner tutorial. Guided calibration helps align the game with your own screen and sound setup. A computer, screen and sound output are still needed; they are not built into the mat.
Using a Mac?
Use a compatible rhythm game for your macOS version. The current LTEK Edition download is for Windows; a USB-C-only computer also needs an appropriate USB adapter or hub.
Playing on an older console?
The PS2/PSX route uses a dedicated L-TEK converter sold separately. Check your exact console and game before choosing that setup.
03 / A setup that feels right
Give the floor—and your timing—a little attention
Core’s noise-reducing construction is useful for a home setup, but a mat cannot make every floor silent. Place it on a flat, stable surface, keep nearby objects clear and start with controlled steps. If you share a home or have neighbours below, assess sound and vibration in your own room before choosing regular playing times.
If the steps feel out of sync
Start with mapping and calibration, then check the display and audio path. The 1000 Hz polling specification does not remove latency introduced elsewhere in the system.
If you hear too much impact
Review the floor and placement first. Any underlay should leave the mat stable; avoid a surface that rocks or slides.
04 / Optional panel artwork
Keep the Core layout. Make the artwork yours.
Core supports an optional panel-customisation order for the centre panel or for the centre plus all four arrows. Use the linked guide and editor to see the printable areas, upload artwork you have permission to use and position it within the template. When ordered together with the mat, the customised panels are fitted before delivery.
Keep the arrows readable
The five-panel option includes the four active arrows. Follow the template so the direction markings remain where a player expects them.
Choose the right coverage
Core supports the centre or the five-panel arrangement. The all-nine-panel option belongs to PRO X; choose that model if you want the full nine-panel print.

Your first session on Core
Start with a short, easy session. You can learn the arrows before worrying about speed or scores.

Make room for your first song
Place the mat on a flat, stable floor with space to step off safely. Keep the USB cable out of your stepping area. Use bare feet or suitable sports shoes, and check that the mat stays in place before playing.

Connect and install the game
Connect the mat by USB to your computer. On Windows, download the free StepMania 5.0 LTEK Edition beta from our Software page. The game runs on the computer; you also need a screen and sound output.

Check all four arrows
Use the game’s pad mapping, then check that each physical arrow activates the matching input on screen. If automatic mapping needs help, assign the four arrows manually. Run guided timing calibration for your screen and audio setup.

Start with the tutorial
Follow Ada and Kuba’s tutorial, then choose an easy, slow chart. Step when a moving arrow meets its fixed target on screen. Focus on recognising one arrow at a time, pause when needed, and replay a short song before increasing difficulty.

Can I use Core if I have never played a dance game?
Yes. Start with the four-arrow layout, the LTEK Edition tutorial and an easy chart. Check input mapping first and increase difficulty only when reading and stepping the arrows feels comfortable.
What do I need to start playing?
You need the mat, its USB cable, a compatible computer, a screen, sound output and a rhythm game. For Windows, start with the free StepMania 5.0 LTEK Edition beta and follow its mapping and beginner tutorial.
Will it work with my console?
Do not assume that a USB connection makes every console compatible. The dedicated PS1/PS2 route requires the separately sold L-TEK PS2/PSX converter. Check the exact console and game; this does not establish PS4, PS5, Xbox or Switch support.
Is Core quiet enough for an upstairs room?
Core has noise-reducing construction, but steps can still transmit impact through a floor. The building, floor, placement and playing style matter. Plan the position and playing times around your household and neighbours.
Does 1000 Hz mean every step appears on screen in 1 ms?
No. It describes the USB polling rate, with a nominal 1 ms interval. The complete response also depends on the game, computer, display and audio path. Map the arrows and calibrate the game for your setup.
Can I order Core with my own artwork?
Yes, as an optional panel-customisation order: either the centre or the centre plus four arrows. Follow the print template and keep the arrow areas readable. The all-nine-panel option is for PRO X.
